Punjab Announces Zone-Wise Paddy Cultivation from June 1
Punjab is changing how farmers grow rice to save water.
They're dividing the state into zones, starting rice planting on different dates in June.
The government wants to make sure there's enough water for the future.
They are also helping farmers by giving them money off on seeds for cotton plants.
This way, farmers can grow different crops and use less water.
They're also aiming to buy a lot of wheat from farmers this year, making sure there's enough food for everyone.
Punjab will begin zone-wise paddy cultivation starting June 1.
The state is divided into three zones for cultivation.
The government aims to conserve water by regulating paddy cultivation.
A 33% subsidy on BT cotton hybrid seeds will be provided to farmers.
The state is targeting a wheat procurement of 124 lakh metric tonnes.
