Andhra Woman Loses Rs 1.43 Crore in Digital Arrest Scam

Andhra Woman Loses Rs 1.43 Crore in Digital Arrest Scam

A woman in a town in India called Machilipatnam was tricked by bad people pretending to be police officers from Delhi.

They told her that someone had opened a bank account in her name and used it for a crime.

They said very scary things — that a very important judge wanted to put her in jail.

The scammers told her to give them her money so it could be checked, and promised to return it in three days.

They even warned her not to tell anyone, or her son would be hurt.

She was so scared that she gave them more than one crore rupees — that is a huge amount of money.

Later, the scammers asked for even more money, and then she realized something was wrong.

She told her son, who lives far away in America, and he helped her go to the police.

The police have registered a case and are now investigating.

They say this kind of trick, called a 'digital arrest scam,' keeps happening, so everyone should be careful.
