Sanchar Saathi Reaches 30 Crore Visits, Recovers 14 Lakh Phones
Sanchar Saathi is a website that helps people deal with mobile phone problems and scams.
It has received more than 30 crore visits since it began in May 2023.
People can use it to report suspicious calls and messages, check mobile connections registered in their name, and block missing phones.
Its Chakshu service collects reports about possible scams.
The ministry says reports have led authorities to take action in many cases and disconnect more than 50 lakh mobile connections.
The portal has helped block over 60 lakh lost or stolen phones.
More than 14 lakh of those phones have been recovered.
Information from people’s reports is also shared with organisations that work to detect fraud.
The Department of Telecommunications’ Sanchar Saathi portal has recorded more than 30 crore visits since launching in May 2023.
Its Chakshu service has received 12.80 lakh reports of suspected fraudulent communications, leading to action in nearly 59.82 lakh cases.
More than 50 lakh mobile connections have been disconnected following action on those reports.
The portal has enabled users to block 60.96 lakh lost or stolen phones; 37.85 lakh were traced and more than 14 lakh recovered.
Citizen reports also inform the Financial Fraud Risk Indicator, with intelligence shared with banks, payment providers, telecom operators and law enforcement.
