Goyal to visit Brussels for India-EU trade pact talks
Piyush Goyal, India's Commerce and Industry Minister, is going to Brussels to talk with EU officials about a big trade deal.
They want to finish this deal soon because it's important for both India and the EU.
The deal will make it easier for both sides to trade things like clothes, medicines, and steel.
They are also talking about something called a 'carbon tax' which might make some Indian products more expensive in Europe.
Both sides are working hard to make sure the deal is fair and good for everyone.
They hope to finish the deal by the first few months of 2026.
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will visit Brussels on January 8-9, 2025, for crucial India-EU FTA negotiations.
The talks aim to conclude a comprehensive, balanced, and mutually beneficial trade agreement.
Key issues include the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), market access, and intellectual property rights.
The 16th round of negotiations concluded earlier in December, with both sides intensifying efforts to bridge differences.
The India-EU FTA covers 23 policy areas, including trade in goods, services, investment, and sustainable development.
