BMC to Clean Worli Koliwada Seafront Round-the-Clock
The city of Mumbai, through its municipal group BMC, is starting a new project to keep the Worli Koliwada beach super clean, all day and all night!
They've hired people to pick up trash from the water and the beach along the 3.5-kilometer stretch.
This is part of a bigger plan to help save and make nicer the old neighborhoods where the Koli fishing families live.
They want to make sure this special area stays beautiful and clean for everyone.
This is similar to other projects BMC has done to help these coastal communities, like creating a special food market by the sea in another area called Mahim.
BMC will conduct daily, round-the-clock cleaning and maintenance of the Worli Koliwada seafront.
The cleaning initiative covers a 3.5-km stretch of the seafront.
A contractor will be responsible for collecting and disposing of floating waste from the water and cleaning the entire seafront.
The project aims to preserve and uplift the heritage of the Worli Koliwada, a neighborhood of the indigenous Koli fishing community.
This initiative is part of BMC's broader efforts to revive Koliwadas across Mumbai.
