Kiran Desai at 55: Three Novels, Migration, and Literary Importance
Kiran Desai is an important Indian writer who has written three novels.
One of her books won the 2006 Man Booker Prize.
She spent seven years writing that book.
At the time, she was the youngest person to win the prize.
The book includes a character named Biju.
Biju’s experience shows that moving to America may not solve every problem.
America can look full of opportunity from far away but feel lonely and difficult after someone arrives.
Desai often writes about leaving home while still feeling connected to it.
Kiran Desai’s work is being examined as she turns 55.
Her achievement was recognised with the 2006 Man Booker Prize.
