Kerala High Court lets case proceed in girl's death
A court said that doctors are not special and must follow the law like everybody else.

The Kerala High Court refused to interfere with an expert panel's report that found two doctors grossly negligent in the death of a 10-year-old girl.
Justices A K Jayasankaran Nambiar and Preeta A K dismissed the appeal by Dr Reni Philip and Dr Suma John, allowing the criminal case against them to proceed.
The court observed that nobody is above the law and that doctors taking the Hippocratic oath cannot claim immunity from prosecution.
The 2010 incident saw the girl admitted to Christian Mission Hospital with abdominal pain and vomiting; the autopsy reported her cause of death as choking.
An earlier state apex body report exonerating the doctors was set aside by the high court, and a fresh report found them grossly negligent.
