Gogunda Moves Beyond Maoist Stronghold Through Security and Development

Gogunda Moves Beyond Maoist Stronghold Through Security and Development

Gogunda was once a dangerous place because of Maoist violence and hidden bombs.

People had trouble reaching schools, health facilities and other basic services.

A camp of the Central Reserve Police Force was later established there.

Roads and electricity began reaching the area after the camp was set up.

Schools and Anganwadi centres also became easier for villagers to access.

People now feel safer and are speaking more with security personnel.

However, hidden explosive devices may still be buried in the region.

Vehicles cannot reach the hilltop camp, so people must climb to it.

The changes show how security and development can happen together.
