Remote Tribal Village Gudem Gets Electricity After 77 Years
Imagine a village where people lived for many, many years without electricity, like it was always dark after the sun went down.
This village, called Gudem, is in a hard-to-reach place on a hill.
For over 70 years, the families there didn't have lights or fans.
But recently, a kind leader heard their wish for power.
Workers worked very hard, carrying poles through forests and rocky areas to bring electricity lines all the way to their homes.
Now, finally, the village has lights, and the children can study after dark, and families can use fans when it's hot.
The electricity comes from the sun and wind, making it a clean way to bring light to this special village after so long.
The remote tribal village of Gudem received electricity for the first time since India's independence.
The project, which took over seven decades to achieve, serves 17 families in the hilltop hamlet.
Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan expedited the electrification project after villagers approached him.
The project involved installing power lines over 9.6 kilometers through challenging forest and rocky terrain, costing over ₹80 lakh.
Electricity is supplied via a hybrid system combining solar power and a wind turbine under the PM Janman scheme.

Arguments for Expedited Project
Arguments for Caution/Alternative Solutions
Urgency of Basic Needs
Arguments for Expedited Project
Immediate electrification is crucial to end decades of darkness and provide basic amenities to the villagers, improving their quality of life significantly.
Arguments for Caution/Alternative Solutions
While electrification is important, the challenging terrain and high cost (over ₹80 lakh) necessitate careful planning to ensure long-term sustainability and minimal environmental impact.
Role of Political Intervention
Arguments for Expedited Project
Direct intervention from the Deputy CM was instrumental in overcoming bureaucratic hurdles and expediting the project, demonstrating responsive governance.
Arguments for Caution/Alternative Solutions
Reliance on high-level political intervention might bypass standard procedures, potentially leading to unsustainable projects or neglecting other equally pressing needs in different regions.
