Government Halts Free Sapling Distribution Due to Funding Cuts
Imagine the Forest department usually gives away free tree seedlings on Environment Day, like a gift!
This year, they can't do that.
The government didn't give them any money for it.
They used to give away many saplings like guava and teak.
But, they did produce about 3 lakh saplings that they will sell instead.
The Chief Minister did give money for a project to make many more saplings, but these won't be free right away.
Those will be given out later in the year.
The social forestry wing halts free sapling distribution due to lack of funds.
The government did not allot funds for the free sapling project this year.
The social forestry wing has distributed about 20 lakh saplings in the past.
Fruit tree saplings were produced for sale this year.
The Chief Minister allocated funds for a different sapling project.
