Delhi Expands Police Patrols Near Colleges and Transit Hubs
Delhi wants public places to be safer for women and students.
Police will patrol more often near colleges, stations and busy markets.
Special teams called Shishtachar Squads will watch for harassment.
Police will also check safety inside Pink Buses.
These buses should have visible security and quick help during emergencies.
The plan also helps older people living in Delhi.
Police will find senior citizens who are not yet part of the support program.
Local officers are expected to stay in regular contact with them and help before problems become emergencies.
Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu ordered increased police vigilance near colleges, transit hubs and crowded markets.
Specialised Shishtachar Squads will conduct sustained patrols against harassment of women and girl students.
Security inside Pink Buses will be reviewed, with visible personnel and faster emergency responses emphasized.
Delhi Police will reassess the city’s senior-citizen population and expand coverage through its mobile application.
Officials were urged to provide prompt assistance and maintain regular contact with vulnerable residents before emergencies occur.
