Caravaggio's 'Magdalene' Exhibition Opens in Mumbai
Imagine two artists from different times and places, Caravaggio and Dhurandhar, both painting about strong women.
One painted a woman from the Bible, and the other, a woman from Indian stories.
They show how these women defied rules and found their own paths.
The exhibition shows how these artists used light and shadows differently to tell their stories, with one using dark backgrounds and the other, bright colors.
This exhibit is a way for people from different countries to learn about each other's art and cultures, and it's happening in Mumbai.
The exhibition, 'L’invenzione della luce,' features Caravaggio's 'Magdalene in Ecstasy' and works by M.V. Dhurandhar.
The show opened on October 14 at the Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum in Mumbai.
The exhibition is a collaboration between the museum, the Italian Consulate, and the Istituto Italiano di Cultura.
It aims to highlight themes of devotion and cultural exchange.
The exhibition is on display until November 2, 2025.
