Supreme Court Closes Contempt Case Against Forest Officer After Apology
Imagine a big court, the Supreme Court, was watching over a problem about cutting trees and building things where it shouldn't.
A forest officer was accused of doing wrong things.
The Supreme Court told the government it was okay to try and prosecute him.
But, the officer went to a smaller court, the High Court, and asked them to stop the trial.
The big court got very angry because they were already watching the case.
They said the smaller court shouldn't have gotten involved.
The officer then said he was very sorry and apologized without excuses.
Because he had a good record for many years, the big court decided to forgive him and close the case.
However, they warned him not to try and stop the trial again through other courts.
Supreme Court closed contempt proceedings against an IFS officer, Rahul, for approaching the Uttarakhand High Court.
The officer had sought a stay on his prosecution in a CBI case related to illegal construction and tree felling in Jim Corbett National Park.
The Supreme Court had previously ordered the Uttarakhand government to grant sanction to prosecute the officer.
The top court viewed the High Court's stay order as interference in a matter it was monitoring.
Contempt proceedings were closed after the officer tendered an unconditional apology, taking into account his 21 years of unblemished service.
