Indian Railway Rule Offers Emergency Option Without Confirmed Ticket

Indian Railway Rule Offers Emergency Option Without Confirmed Ticket

Travelling on a train without a valid ticket can cause legal trouble.

Passengers may have to pay a fine or even face imprisonment.

The fine has reportedly been increased to ₹500.

They must also pay the normal fare for the journey.

If someone has a genuine emergency, they can first buy a platform ticket.

They can then board the train and quickly speak to the TTE.

The TTE may issue a ticket during the journey.

Passengers should normally book tickets early through IRCTC or a railway station.
