Warring Seeks Shah’s Intervention Over Punjab First-Time Voter Registration

Amrinder Singh Raja Warring says some young people in Punjab were not allowed to register as voters.

These people had turned 18 and applied using Form 6.

He says officials asked them to prove that their parents or grandparents appeared on very old voter lists.

Some families had moved often for work, and some parents worked abroad.

Warring believes this creates an unfair extra requirement.

He asked Amit Shah to help solve the problem.

The Election Commission said an extra declaration would not be needed after the revision.

Warring says that answer came too late for some applicants.

The Home Ministry had not publicly replied to his letter.
