BMC Clears Borivali West Footpaths In Pedestrian First Drive

Mumbai’s civic body is trying to make footpaths easier and safer for people to use.

Its team removed buildings and stalls that had been blocking walkways in Borivali West.

In total, 20 unauthorised structures were demolished and 15 stalls were cleared.

The work took place on three roads, including roads near Borivali West railway station.

This was the first part of a campaign called Pedestrian First.

The campaign will target six important footpaths covering nearly 8 kilometres.

Workers also plan to remove other obstacles such as stored materials, signs and banners.

The goal is to help people walk without having to move onto busy roads.
