Pant Injured, Ruled Out of NZ ODIs
Rishabh Pant, an Indian cricket player, got hurt during practice on Saturday in Vadodara.
He was hit in the stomach area by a special kind of throw used for training.
Pant had been practicing his batting for nearly 50 minutes and looked in good rhythm before he got hurt.
The team's coach and other helpers took care of him, and he left the field looking like he was in pain.
Pant hasn't played in a one-day international match since July 2024, but he was part of India's team that won a big tournament called the Champions Trophy in 2025, even though he didn't play in any matches there.
Now, he can't play in the upcoming series against New Zealand, and another player might take his place.
India will have to find a new player to take Pant's spot for the series, which starts on Sunday.
The team has some experienced players coming back, like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who will help lead the team.
New Zealand will have a mix of new and experienced players, with some of their best players resting for this series.
Rishabh Pant injured during ODI training in Vadodara on Saturday, January 10, 2026.
Hit above the waist by a throwdown specialist's delivery, ruled out of NZ ODI series.
Received immediate medical attention from team physio, doctor, and head coach Gautam Gambhir.
Expected to leave the Indian camp for further recovery at BCCI Centre of Excellence.
Ishan Kishan emerges as a strong contender to replace Pant in the ODI series.
