Rahul Welcomes Musk as Starlink Faces India Regulatory Delay
Elon Musk said that some powerful businesspeople were getting in the way of Starlink in India.
He did not say who he meant.
Rahul Gandhi answered with the words, “Welcome to India.”
Reliance Jio also wants to offer satellite communication services in India.
That could put Jio in competition with Starlink.
But the report says Musk has not publicly accused Jio or its owner, Mukesh Ambani, of causing the delay.
A news outlet said it had asked Jio for comment and was waiting for a reply.
Rahul Gandhi responded to Elon Musk’s claim that “some oligarchs” were blocking Starlink’s entry into India.
Musk’s earlier remarks did not identify any people or companies he believed were responsible.
Reliance Jio is also seeking a share of India’s satellite communications market, where it would compete with Starlink.
The report says Musk has not publicly blamed Reliance Jio or Mukesh Ambani for the regulatory delay.
Times Now said it had sought a response from Jio and was awaiting one.
