Equity fund inflows jump 19% in August; mid- and small-cap funds investor favourites · financialexpress.com

People invested much more money in equity mutual funds in August.

The reports put the total at about Rs 29,300 crore, although they differ slightly on the exact figure.

Small-cap funds received the most money, and mid-cap funds were also popular.

Large-cap and ELSS funds lost money because investors withdrew more than they invested.

One expert said investors may prefer smaller companies because their earnings growth appears stronger.

Monthly SIP investments, which are regular mutual fund payments, reached a record high.

Debt funds had a very different month, changing from a large inflow in July to an outflow in August.

Exchange-traded funds and specialised investment funds also received money during the month.
