FSSAI Action Prompts Bournvita and Amway to Drop Misleading Claims

FSSAI Action Prompts Bournvita and Amway to Drop Misleading Claims

India’s food regulator is checking whether food companies make claims that could confuse shoppers.

Mondelez India removed some Bournvita health and nutrition claims after receiving a notice.

The regulator did not explain exactly which Bournvita claims were involved.

Amway removed “100%” from its coconut oil label.

It also stopped using “Energy Drink” for some caffeinated XS products.

Other companies changed claims about immunity, bones and calcium in baby foods.

Flipkart said it removed a product after another company received a notice.

FSSAI says this is part of a larger campaign against misleading food advertising and labels.
