High Court Orders Release of More Teacher OMRs from 2016 Recruitment
The High Court has ordered the School Service Commission (SSC) to release more OMR sheets from the 2016 teacher recruitment process.
This is part of a bigger issue where 17,209 teachers were fired because the recruitment process was found to be unfair.
However, 15,403 of these teachers were considered innocent and are now taking new tests to get their jobs back.
There is also a debate about whether teachers with experience should get extra marks in the new tests.
Some people think this is unfair to new teachers.
The courts have already said that the SSC can decide how to give marks for experience.
The SSC is currently working to finish the new recruitment process by December 31.
The High Court ordered the SSC to upload OMR sheets of candidates appointed after the 2016 recruitment panel had expired.
17,209 teachers were terminated in April due to irregularities in the 2016 recruitment process.
15,403 of these teachers were considered 'untainted' and are participating in fresh selection tests to regain their positions.
A petition challenges the SSC's decision to award up to 10 marks for teaching experience in the new recruitment process.
The current marking system for 2025 differs significantly from the 2016 process, with a new breakdown of marks.
