Mamata Banerjee Accuses Army Officer of BJP Support
Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, said that an Army officer at Fort William is helping the BJP with something called SIR, which is about changing the list of people who can vote.
She asked the officer to stop.
The Governor said he will check if this is true and do something if needed.
The BJP made fun of Mamata Banerjee's claim, while another political party, CPI(M), said this is a serious matter and needs to be investigated properly.
Mamata also said that the BJP is trying to remove many names from the voter list unfairly.
She found a car with lots of forms that the BJP was using to try and remove people's names from the voter list.
The BJP says that the people working on the voter list are not letting them complain about people who should not be on the list.
Mamata Banerjee accused an Army commandant at Fort William of working for the BJP in the SIR exercise.
The allegation is related to the SIR exercise in electoral rolls, with claims of 54 lakh names already deleted and plans to delete another 1.30 crore.
Governor CV Ananda Bose will verify the claim and intervene if necessary.
BJP's Bengal unit president responded with sarcastic remarks about Banerjee's allegations.
CPI(M) state secretary called it a serious issue and urged Banerjee to pursue the truth.
