SC Seeks Response on Menstruation Proof Demand Case
Some female workers at a university in Haryana were asked to show private photos to prove they were menstruating.
They refused and reported the incident.
The university suspended the supervisors involved and started an investigation.
The workers said they were told to do this by a university official, but he denied it.
The police filed a case against the supervisors for harassment and other charges.
The Supreme Court is now looking into this matter and has asked the government to respond.
The court also mentioned that in Karnataka, they are giving period leave and wondered if they would ask for proof for giving the leave.
The court expressed hope that something good will happen in this petition.
Female sanitation workers at Maharishi Dayanand University alleged they were asked to prove menstruation through private photos.
The university suspended two supervisors and ordered an internal probe.
An FIR was filed against the supervisors for criminal intimidation, sexual harassment, and assault.
The Supreme Court issued notices to the Centre and others, seeking a response to the plea.
