Nepal Races to Complete Parliament Building Before Election
Nepal is in a hurry to finish building a new Parliament building before the election results come out.
The government needs to have the building ready so that the new representatives can take their oaths.
They started building it in 2019, but it's not finished yet.
The building is supposed to hold a lot of people, including lawmakers and visitors.
The government is hoping it will be ready in time, even though they've missed some deadlines before.
They are working on the inside and the big dome on top right now.
Nepal must complete its new Parliament building before the March 5 election results to meet a 30-day constitutional deadline.
Construction began in 2019 with a target completion date of 2022, but the building remains unfinished.
The building will accommodate 700 people in the lower house chamber and 250 in the National Assembly hall.
Civil work is complete, but interior work and the installation of the dome are still pending.
The government has assured that the new space will be ready in a month and a half.
