Former Fauci Adviser Pleads Guilty in Federal COVID Records Case

David Morens used to be a senior adviser to Anthony Fauci at a federal health agency.

He pleaded guilty to helping hide government records.

Prosecutors say he used a private email account so the messages would be harder for the public to obtain.

The messages concerned coronavirus research grants.

One grant involved EcoHealth Alliance and a research laboratory in Wuhan, China.

Morens also admitted accepting gifts, wine, and expensive meals from people connected to the grant.

His lawyer said Morens is taking responsibility for his actions.

A judge will decide his punishment on November 12.

Fauci was not charged in this case.

The plea does not settle how the COVID-19 pandemic began.
