Paracetamol in Pregnancy: Autism Link Unproven, Guidelines Reaffirm

Some studies have looked at whether taking paracetamol (like Tylenol) during pregnancy could be linked to autism or ADHD in children.

These studies show mixed results.

The main thing is that taking paracetamol is considered safe, and the Australian government and medical professionals advise that pregnant women can safely take paracetamol to treat a fever.

A recent study found there was a marginally increased risk of autism, however, when comparing siblings with different exposures, researchers found no increased risk of autism.

It is very important to treat high fevers.

If you're pregnant and have a fever, talk to your doctor.
