Kolkata to Resume Hawker Drives After Eid
Imagine busy streets in Kolkata getting filled with shops and stalls, making it hard for people to walk or park.
The city officials are planning to have another round of clearing these stalls (hawkers) in the New Market area after the Eid festival.
They noticed that the hawkers were taking over the roads, especially in certain areas, and even fighting amongst themselves.
The goal is to keep the roads clear and follow the rules about where hawkers can set up shop.
Even after previous clearings, officials are concerned that the hawkers may return.
