Lesser-Known Home Loan Tax Benefits
Many people who take home loans in India know about the usual tax benefits, but there are some less-known ones that can help them save more money.
For example, first-time buyers can get an extra ₹50,000 deduction, but many don't know about it.
If two people take a loan together and own the home, both can get the full tax benefits.
Also, if you pay interest before the home is built, you can claim that later in five parts.
It's important to plan and know all these rules to save more money on taxes and make your loan easier to pay off.
First-time homebuyers can claim an additional ₹50,000 deduction under Section 80EE.
Section 80EEA is no longer available for new borrowers but can still be claimed by those who took loans during the eligible period.
Co-borrowers who are also co-owners can independently claim full tax deductions on the same property.
Pre-construction interest can be claimed in five equal instalments after the property is completed.
Section 24(b) deductions on home loan interest are available under both old and new tax regimes for let-out properties.
