Root Frustrated as Carse Incident Overshadows England’s Pakistan Victory
England cricket had just beaten Pakistan by a large margin.
But an incident involving fast bowler Brydon Carse became the main story instead.
Videos appeared to show police leading Carse away in handcuffs outside a nightclub in Derby.
Police said he was briefly arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly.
He was later de-arrested, and no charges were brought.
Carse was removed from England’s squad for the next Test while the Cricket Regulator investigates.
Joe Root said he was upset and had spoken with Carse, who was apologetic.
Root said the team needs better habits and responsibility away from cricket.
He prefers players to build this culture themselves rather than simply following another curfew.
Joe Root said Brydon Carse’s nightclub incident overshadowed England’s innings victory over Pakistan.

Player-led responsibility

Curfew-based restrictions
England previously introduced a curfew after earlier off-field controversies, making restrictions on players’ nights out the alternative approach described in the reports.
Addressing recurring problems
Player-led responsibility
Root said the broader issue is the repeated pattern of off-field mistakes and that players must take responsibility for changing the team’s reputation.
