Bangladesh's Awami League Announces Protests Against Hasina's Death Sentence
Sheikh Hasina, the former Prime Minister of Bangladesh, was sentenced to death by a tribunal for crimes against humanity.
Her party, the Awami League, says this is unfair and part of a plan to keep her out of the next election.
They are calling for protests all over Bangladesh until the end of November.
The party says the trial was not fair and that the government should step down.
They also say they will not allow an election that is not fair.
Hasina is currently in India, and her party is asking people to join them in resisting what they call unfair actions against them.
Awami League announces nationwide protests until November 30 against the death sentence of Sheikh Hasina.
The party alleges the tribunal's verdict is part of a political conspiracy to exclude Hasina from the upcoming elections.
Hasina was sentenced to death in absentia by the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT-BD) for crimes against humanity.
The party describes the tribunal proceedings as a 'mockery of a trial' and demands the resignation of interim government leader Muhammad Yunus.
Awami League vows to resist any attempts to exclude pro-liberation forces from the electoral process.
