GSTN Delays Locking Table in GSTR-3B, Easing Tax Filing
Imagine a tax form called GSTR-3B that businesses use.
There's a specific part of this form, Table 3.2, where companies list sales they made to people who aren't registered for GST.
The government initially planned to lock this section, meaning businesses couldn't change the information automatically entered.
However, after hearing concerns from businesses, the government decided to postpone this change.
This means businesses can still edit Table 3.2 for now.
This helps businesses, especially those that sell to regular people, to make sure the information on the form is correct before they submit their taxes.
GSTN deferred the implementation of locking Table 3.2 in GSTR-3B, allowing it to remain editable.
The initial plan was to make Table 3.2 non-editable for the April 2025 tax period.
GSTN made the decision after receiving representations and grievances from taxpayers.
Table 3.2 captures inter-state supplies to unregistered persons, composition taxpayers, and UIN holders.
Experts noted the deferral provides relief to businesses, especially those with sales to unregistered buyers.
