L&T and General Atomics to Manufacture Combat Drones in India
A big Indian company called L&T is teaming up with an American company called General Atomics.
Together, they will build advanced spy and attack drones, called RPAS, right here in India.
This is for the Indian armed forces and is part of a plan to make more defense equipment in India, called 'Make in India' and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat'.
L&T will be the main company in charge of a big order for 87 drones, and General Atomics will provide the technology.
These drones are known for flying for a long time and can be used for watching and for attacking.
This partnership is a big step for India's defense industry and makes the country more independent in making its own advanced weapons.
L&T is a very old and big company in India, and General Atomics is experienced in making these types of drones.
This collaboration also strengthens the defense ties between India and the US.
L&T's stock was doing well on the day of the announcement.
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (GA-ASI) have partnered to manufacture MALE RPAS in India.
The partnership aims to fulfill indigenous content requirements for the Ministry of Defence's upcoming order of 87 MALE RPAS units.
L&T will be the prime bidder, with GA-ASI serving as the technology partner for production of MQ-series drone platforms.
The collaboration supports India's 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' and 'Make in India' initiatives to boost self-reliant defence manufacturing.
This partnership signifies an expansion of Indo-US defense cooperation and leverages GA-ASI's experience in surveillance and strike missions.
