Centre Denies Bias in IAF Permanent Commission Grants
The Indian government told the Supreme Court that there is no discrimination against women officers in the Indian Air Force when giving them permanent jobs.
They said that since 2019, 243 men and 177 women have been given permanent positions.
The court is looking into the rules but said that the number of available jobs is limited.
Some women officers and their lawyers argued that women are not being treated fairly, especially when they are pregnant or on maternity leave.
The court will make a decision after hearing all the arguments.
The Centre denied allegations of discrimination in granting permanent commission to SSC women officers in the IAF.
Since 2019, 243 men and 177 women have been granted permanent commission in the IAF.
The 2019 HR policy provides three chances for consideration for permanent commission during the 11th, 12th, and 13th year of SSC tenure.
The Supreme Court noted that the policy would be reviewed but limited vacancies are a policy decision.
