Himachal Pradesh Board Accuses BJP of Misusing Funds Before Elections
Imagine a fund meant to help construction workers in Himachal Pradesh.
The current leader, Kanwar, says that before the last election, the previous government gave away a lot of money to people they favored, like friends.
They also quickly added a lot of new workers to the list.
Kanwar says this might be because the previous government wanted to win the election by giving out freebies.
He is now checking if the money was given to the right people.
They found some fake workers and are trying to get the money back.
The current government has also started making sure new workers register properly.
Himachal Pradesh board chairman alleged the previous BJP government distributed Rs 172 crore to favored individuals.
The board detected 38 cases of fake registrations and filed cases against fake beneficiaries.
72,260 workers were registered overnight during the BJP regime.
The chairman has sought explanations from officers regarding the distribution of funds.
The Congress government made registration through the HimParivar Portal mandatory after assuming power.
