The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, honored Swargadeo Chaolung Siu-Ka-Pha, the founder of the Ahom dynasty.

He unveiled a statue of Siu-Ka-Pha in Guwahati on a special religious day called Me-Dam-Me-Phi.

This day is important for the Tai-Ahom community, who make offerings to their gods and ancestors.

The Chief Minister talked about how Siu-Ka-Pha brought different communities together and created a strong and united Assam.

Meanwhile, in Jorhat, the Tai Ahom Yuva Parishad observed Me-Dam-Me-Phi at Raja Maidam, the final resting site of the last Ahom king.

They performed rituals and urged the Chief Minister to preserve the heritage sites, recalling earlier assurances given by him.

The community has been celebrating this festival annually to safeguard Ahom heritage and cherish the memories associated with the last capital of the Ahom dynasty.
