Gen Z slang enters Indian Parliament debates

During a recent debate in the Indian Parliament, several MPs used popular Gen Z slang terms like 'Kuchu Puchu,' 'Wasteguna Huiya,' 'MIA,' 'FOMO,' and 'delulu' to make their speeches more relatable to younger audiences.

The opposition MPs used these terms to highlight student protests and criticize the government, while the government MPs used them to criticize the opposition and emphasize the need for systemic reforms.

The debate was part of the ongoing Monsoon Session and focused on the Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also advised Prime Minister Narendra Modi to change his approach to win back the confidence of Gen Z.
