Andaman Islands to Host Island Trekking Festival on November 15
The government in the Andaman Islands is planning a special trekking event on November 15.
It will be held at a place called Mount Manipur, which used to be called Mount Harriet.
This is a beautiful and important historical spot.
The event is to encourage people to enjoy nature and adventure in a way that helps the environment.
It also wants to give young people chances to become guides and find jobs.
Only the first 50 people who sign up can join this special trek.
The government hopes this will help people see how lovely the islands are and learn about their history.
Andaman's Tourism Department will organize an 'Island Trekking Festival' on November 15.
The festival will take place at Mount Harriet, now renamed Mount Manipur, in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The event aims to promote eco-adventure tourism and provide self-employment opportunities for local youth.
Participation is limited to the first 50 registered individuals, including local youth, tourists, and trekking enthusiasts.
Mount Manipur is historically significant, being a place of exile for Maharaja Kulachandra Singh and 22 freedom fighters after the Anglo-Manipur war.
