NEET PG 2025: Resignations and Round 3
The Director General of Medical Education and Training (DGME) in Uttar Pradesh has allowed students who got seats in the first and second rounds of UP NEET PG 2025 to quit those seats by February 1, 2026.
They also announced the schedule for the third round of counselling.
Students can register for the third round from January 23 to February 1, 2026.
The DGME said that only students who register and pay the required fee can participate in the choice-filling process.
The counselling is happening under new rules that allow some students with very low scores to get seats.
This has made some people worried about the quality of doctors and patient safety.
Some people even filed a case in the Supreme Court to challenge these new rules.
DGME allowed candidates from the first and second rounds of UP NEET PG 2025 counselling to resign from their allotted seats by February 1, 2026.
Resignations must be submitted in person at the original nodal centre where admission was completed.
Round 3 counselling registration is open from January 23 to February 1, 2026.
The merit list for round 3 will be released on February 2, 2026, followed by choice filling from February 3 to February 7, 2026.
Seat allotment results for round 3 will be declared on February 9, 2026, with admissions to be completed by February 13, 2026.
