Kochi Tea Auctions See Firm Prices for CTC Dust
Imagine a big sale where people buy and sell tea leaves.
In Kochi, India, there was a sale recently where one type of tea, called CTC dust, was very popular.
Buyers were very interested, so the prices went up and most of the tea was sold.
Another type of tea, called orthodox dust, wasn't as popular, and not much of it was sold.
Other types of tea leaves also had mixed results, with some prices going up and others staying the same or going down a little.
People who buy tea for making drinks, and people who buy it to sell in stores, were the main buyers.
Some buyers from other countries also joined in.
Kochi tea auctions experienced firm and dearer prices for CTC dust due to increased interest in medium grades.
CTC dust sales reached 99% of the offered 5,78,095 kg, driven by blenders and local buyers.
The orthodox dust market saw significantly lower demand, with only 31% of the 27,000 kg offered quantity sold.
CTC leaf market demand was fair, with most grades selling at steady to slightly dearer levels.
Orthodox whole-leaf varieties were barely steady, with prices easing and some grades withdrawn, despite participation from CIS and Middle East buyers.
