BSF Deploys Rampur and Mudhol Hounds for Border Security
The BSF is using two special Indian dog breeds, Rampur and Mudhol Hounds, for border security.
These dogs, once owned by royalty, are being trained for tough jobs like commando operations, including rappelling from helicopters and river rafting.
The BSF is also breeding these dogs.
One Mudhol Hound won an award against foreign breeds.
The government supports the use of these native dogs in security.
They are known for their speed, stamina and sense of smell.
These dogs are well-suited to India's climate, with natural disease resistance and low maintenance needs.
BSF has deployed Rampur and Mudhol Hounds across operational areas.
Over 150 dogs are deployed across western and eastern borders, and LWE areas.
The dogs are being trained for commando operations.
