Govt: No Expansion of OCI Framework, No Dual Citizenship
The Indian government has stated it is not planning to change the rules for people who have an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card.
This means they won't be adding things like the right to own property, vote, or make it easier to become a full citizen again.
Indian law doesn't allow people to have citizenship in two countries at the same time, which is why these changes aren't happening.
Government has no plans to expand the OCI framework.
No proposal to include property or voting rights for OCI cardholders.
Simplified re-naturalisation pathways are not being considered.
Dual citizenship is not allowed under current Indian laws.
