BEST Inspection Reveals 34% Wet-Lease Buses Had Defects
A recent inspection of BEST's wet-lease buses in Mumbai found that 34% of them had problems with their brakes and steering.
This means that out of 2,553 buses checked, 868 had serious issues.
While 774 buses have been fixed and are back on the road, 94 buses still need repairs even after three months.
This has raised concerns about passenger safety and the effectiveness of the maintenance process.
A committee member, Nitin Nandgaonkar, questioned why the repairs are taking so long and whether some of the fixed buses might be involved in recent accidents.
BEST officials have instructed operators to ensure timely repairs, but the situation is still under scrutiny.
