South Korea to diversify exports, support US investments
South Korea's trade agencies, KOTRA and K-SURE, have plans to help the country sell more different kinds of products around the world.
Right now, South Korea mostly sells computer chips, cars, and ships.
KOTRA will set up new teams to help with selling things like food and other consumer goods.
K-SURE will provide low-interest loans to companies that want to invest in the United States.
South Korea has promised to invest a lot of money in the US, and in return, the US will lower some taxes on South Korean products.
Meanwhile, the US Supreme Court has not yet decided if special taxes that President Trump put on some countries, including South Korea, are legal.
The court did not make a decision this week as expected.
KOTRA and K-SURE announced plans to diversify South Korea's exports and support US investments.
KOTRA will establish 20 new teams for overseas certification of consumer goods and expand logistics centers.
K-SURE plans to offer 49 trillion won in low-interest loans by 2030, including 8 trillion won this year for US investments.
South Korea pledged 350 billion USD in investments in the US, including 150 billion for shipbuilding and 200 billion for advanced industries, in exchange for tariff cuts.
The US Supreme Court has not yet ruled on the legality of President Trump's 'reciprocal' tariffs on trading partners, including South Korea.
