Fino Payments Bank Shares Rise 9% After RBI Approves CEO Reappointment
Fino Payments Bank's shares went up by 9% because the RBI approved their CEO, Rishi Gupta, to stay for another three years.
This is good news because the bank is changing into a different kind of bank called a Small Finance Bank.
This change will let them lend money, take more deposits, and open more branches.
Rishi Gupta has been with the bank for a long time and has helped it follow all the rules.
Even though the shares went up today, they are still down a bit this month.
The bank is also about to report its financial results for the last quarter.
RBI approved the reappointment of Rishi Gupta as Fino Payments Bank's MD and CEO for 3 years starting May 2, 2026.
Shares of Fino Payments Bank surged 9% to INR 227.45 following the reappointment announcement.
The bank is in the process of converting into a Small Finance Bank (SFB), which will allow it to offer lending, increase deposit limits, and expand its physical presence.
Rishi Gupta has been instrumental in establishing a robust compliance culture within the bank.
The bank's net profit declined 28% YoY to INR 15.3 Cr in Q2 FY26, while interest income rose 26% to INR 60.1 Cr.
