China's Factory Activity Unexpectedly Contracts in May
In May, factories in China made fewer goods than before.
This was a surprise because experts thought things would improve.
A recent break in trade tensions with the U.S. did not help enough.
The decrease happened because people in China were not buying as much.
Although there was some improvement, things are still uncertain because the future of exports is unclear due to potential tensions with the U.S.
China's manufacturing activity unexpectedly contracted in May.
The Caixin PMI fell to 48.3, below the 50-point mark.
The figure is the lowest since September 2022.
The contraction occurred despite improved trade flows.
Weak domestic demand is pressuring the economy.
