New Tilcayo Tiger Cat Species Discovered in Bolivia
Scientists discovered a small wild cat called the Tilcayo tiger cat.
Its scientific name is Leopardus tilcayo.
It lives in Bolivia’s cloudy Yungas forests.
The cat may look a little like a young cheetah or leopard.
Careful observation helped distinguish it from other animals.
The discovery is the first of its kind in more than 100 years.
It shows that nature may still contain animals people have not found.
It also highlights the need to think about how to protect these forests and their wildlife.
