Hungary Fines MOL Petrochemicals After Deadly Plant Explosion

Hungarian officials fined MOL Petrochemicals after an explosion at its chemical plant.

The explosion happened in May during the restart of a plant unit after maintenance.

One worker died.

Four workers were seriously hurt, and seven others had minor injuries.

Investigators said the plant did not have enough safety equipment.

This equipment should have warned workers about danger.

It also should have helped stop the plant safely.

The company must review its safety systems and regularly maintain pipelines and other equipment.

No official criminal charges had been filed against the company.
