Two youths drown on New Year's Day
On New Year's Day, two young men drowned in separate incidents.
In Burdwan, a man named Dhanai Sil tried to save his friend who was struggling in a canal but unfortunately drowned himself.
In Durgapur, another young man, Rahul Rajak, tried to enter a private amusement park by crossing a deep waterbody while drunk and also drowned.
Both bodies were later found by the police.
Dhanai Sil (33) drowned while trying to rescue his friend in Burdwan.
Rahul Rajak (19) drowned while attempting to intrude into a private amusement park in Durgapur.
Both incidents occurred on New Year's Day, January 1, 2024.
Dhanai Sil was trying to save Bijoy Das, who did not know how to swim.
Rahul Rajak was reportedly in an inebriated condition and did not know how to swim.
