Pakistan Considers Governor's Rule Amid Imran Khan Crisis
The Pakistani government is thinking about taking control of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province because they say the local government isn't doing a good job.
The Chief Minister, Sohail Afridi, protested outside a jail because he wasn't allowed to meet Imran Khan, a former prime minister who is in jail.
The government says they might use a special rule called 'Governor's Rule' to help manage the province better.
This rule can be used for up to two months and can be extended if needed.
The governor of the province says he hasn't been told he will be replaced, but there have been talks about it.
The prime minister has said he trusts the current governor.
Meanwhile, Imran Khan's family is worried about his safety because they haven't been able to see or talk to him for a long time.
They say the authorities are hiding something and are not letting them know if he is okay.
Imran Khan has been in jail since August 2023 and has been convicted in several cases that he says are politically driven.
His family and supporters are demanding proof that he is alive and well.
Pakistan's government is considering imposing Governor's Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to governance and security issues.
KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi staged an overnight sit-in protest outside Adiala jail after being denied a meeting with Imran Khan.
Junior Law and Justice Minister Aqeel Malik accused the KP government of failing to maintain coordination with the central government.
Governor's Rule can be imposed for up to two months and extended if necessary, with the president having the authority to make the decision.
Imran Khan's family fears for his safety due to lack of communication and access, with no verifiable information about his condition for over three weeks.
