Nigdi-Dapodi Route in Pune Becomes Traffic Nightmare

Nigdi-Dapodi Route in Pune Becomes Traffic Nightmare

The road from Nigdi to Dapodi in Pune, which was once the fastest route, is now very crowded and slow.

It takes more than half an hour to travel this distance by bus.

The traffic is bad because of many things happening at the same time, like construction work for the metro and water pipes, roads being made narrower, and changes in the entry and exit points of the grade separator.

The service roads are also very crowded because big vehicles can't use the grade separator and have to use these roads instead.

There are not enough parking spaces, so people park on the footpaths, making the problem worse.

The worst traffic jams are at three main points: Akurdi Khandoba Mal Chowk, Chinchwad Station, and Morwadi Chowk.

It takes about 20 minutes to cross these points during busy times.

The police and the organizations in charge of the roads and metro are trying to fix the problem, but they say it will get better only after the construction work is finished.
